South Eastern Railway Announces Major Train Cancellations & Route Changes for Shalimar Station Yard Works – Nov 2025

South Eastern Railway (SER), one of the zonal railways under Indian Railways, has issued a formal notification regarding changes to its train operations. The railway authority is addressing service disruptions during non‑interlocking works at Shalimar station, within the jurisdiction of the Kharagpur division.

Train services have been revised in two key ways:

1. Full Cancellations:

• Train No. 22641: Thiruvananthapuram Central–Shalimar Superfast Express, scheduled to depart Thiruvananthapuram Central at 16:55 hrs on 13th and 15th November 2025, will be fully cancelled.
• Train No. 22642: Shalimar–Thiruvananthapuram Central Superfast Express, scheduled to leave Shalimar at 23:45 hrs on 16th and 18th November 2025, will be fully cancelled.
• Train No. 12659: Nagercoil–Shalimar Gurudev Superfast Express, departing Nagercoil at 14:45 hrs on 16th November 2025, will be fully cancelled.
• Train No. 12660: Shalimar–Nagercoil Express, leaving Shalimar at 23:45 hrs on 19th November 2025, will be fully cancelled.

2. Short Terminations / Changes in Origination:

• Train No. 22826: Dr. M.G.R. Chennai Central–Shalimar Superfast Express, scheduled to depart Chennai Central at 19:50 hrs on 29th October, 12th and 19th November 2025, will be short-terminated at Santragachi. The section between Santragachi and Shalimar will not operate.
• Train No. 12841: Howrah–Dr. M.G.R. Chennai Central Coromandel Express, departing Howrah at 15:10 hrs daily from 13th to 24th November 2025, will originate instead from Santragachi at 15:32 hrs. The Howrah–Santragachi leg will not operate.

Additionally, an advance change:
Train No. 12841 (Coromandel Express, Shalimar–Chennai Central) will originate and terminate at Howrah instead of Shalimar, effective from 25th August 2025.

When

• Pre‑Non‑Interlocking Work: From 23rd October to 20th November 2025 (29 days).
• Post‑Non‑Interlocking Work: From 22nd to 24th November 2025 (3 days).

Affected train dates:

• October: 29th – short termination of Train 22826.
• November:
  • 13th, 15th – Train 22641 (cancellation).
  • 16th – Train 12659 (cancellation), Train 22642 (first segment: 16th).
  • 18th – Train 22642 (second segment: 18th).
  • 19th – Train 12660 (cancellation).
  • 12th, 19th – Train 22826 (short termination).
  • 13th to 24th – Train 12841 (origins changed).
• August: From 25th August 2025 – permanent origin/termination change for Train 12841.
